About
I am Hrdika Chauhan, a Year 3 Diploma in Early Childhood Development & Education student at Temasek Polytechnic. I’ve always been more drawn to a creative mind since young (In fact, I have a bit of a fail streak in Mathematics). I was the kid that would hum, manually record songs to listen to, and draw on worksheets at school. I’ve never been one to keep my individuality to myself and would always encourage others to be their unique selves as well. I engage in musical activities on almost a daily basis and have always wanted to properly expand on my hobby - Which is exactly why I jumped at the opportunity to take part in a ‘Guided Learning’ project called ‘Dream Pop theory learning & composition,’ where I could take charge of my own learning and also do something I’m passionate about.
Why Dream Pop?
Although there are many genres that I enjoy, I had chosen to work on the genre of Dream Pop because of ‘Sunflower’ by Swae Lee and Post Malone. When I was brainstorming on my project, I was feeling weirdly hopeful in the moment which is the exact vibe that the song gives, despite some of its lyrics. Additionally, I also enjoy artists like Beach House and Tame Impala who have contributed to the genre with their psychedelic sounds and melodic tunes. To recreate that feeling of ‘ethereal’ that such artists allowed me to dream about, I wanted to do my own twist on the genre.
